Abs Plastic Scrap
ABS — acrylonitrile butadiene styrene — is a rigid, impact-resistant and heat-tolerant engineering thermoplastic, and one of the most reliably recyclable of the commodity engineering polymers. Our ABS arises from electronics and appliance housings (television, monitor, computer and refrigerator shells), automotive interior and exterior components, extruded sheet, shower trays and skeletal waste from moulding.
Specification
• Polymer: recycled ABS
• Form: regrind flake and granule/pellet
• Colour: black, grey and white as separate lots; mixed colour available at a discount. Black is the most forgiving and usually the easiest to move.
• Key properties: heat resistant, high impact strength, rigid; density nominally around 1.04–1.06 g/cm³
• Free of: PC/ABS blend (a different material that must be declared separately), PS, PP, metal inserts, paint and chrome plating, foam, rubber seals and adhesive
• Flame retardants — declare this: ABS recovered from older electrical and electronic equipment housings may contain brominated flame retardants, some of which are restricted under RoHS and listed as persistent organic pollutants under the Stockholm Convention. Many destinations will test for bromine at import and reject the load.
• HS code: 3915.90 (waste of other plastics)
What determines the price — Virgin ABS resin sets the ceiling; the discount is driven by colour consistency, form (pellet commands more than regrind), contamination with PC or other polymers, paint and plating residue, bromine content, MFI consistency and freight. Typical applications — Injection moulding of non-critical housings, fittings and consumer goods; extruded sheet and profile; compounding with virgin ABS at a controlled blend ratio; automotive under-bonnet and interior components where the grade permits.
Supply terms — Packed in jumbo bags or baled for regrind. Available by 20ft and 40ft container load. Pre-shipment sampling, MFI testing and XRF bromine screening available on request at buyer's account. Quoted per metric ton, FOB or CIF.
