AC Compressor Scrap | Fridge Compressor Scrap
Compressor scrap is the sealed hermetic unit removed from air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers and chillers at end of life. It is bought as a copper-bearing grade: inside the welded steel shell sits a copper-wound motor, and the value of the load is the copper recovered from it against the weight of steel shell carried along with it. Sealed units are specifically excluded from the ISRI electric motor grades (Elmo and Shelmo), which is why they trade as their own commodity and why they must never be mixed into a motor lot.

• Refrigerant: units must be degassed and refrigerant recovered before shipment. Venting refrigerant is illegal in most jurisdictions (ozone-depleting substances and fluorinated greenhouse gas regulations) and unrecovered units will be rejected at many destinations.
• Oil: drained
• Free of: attached copper pipework beyond an agreed allowance, steel brackets, electrical cable, plastic housings, and non-compressor material
• HS code: confirmed with your broker for the destination port
What determines the price
Compressor scrap is priced on recoverable copper against gross weight. The variables are: copper-to-steel ratio, which tracks compressor size and type (rotary vs reciprocating vs scroll); LME copper on the day; whether units are degassed and drained; attached pipework and cable; and freight. Send us the tonnage and unit type and we will quote per metric ton.
Typical applications
Copper recovery by shearing or shredding of the shell; secondary copper smelting; steel recovery from the shell and internal components; aluminium recovery.
Supply terms
Available by 20ft container load — compressors are dense and 20ft is the loading unit for weight reasons. Loose-loaded or in bulk bags. Third-party pre-shipment inspection and sample teardown at load port available on request at buyer's account. Quoted per metric ton, FOB or CIF.

Our standard Ingot size is nominally 2-3 cm x 3-8 cm x 6-12 cm. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation.
Characteristics of high purity zinc ingot:
Shining white metal with bluish gray luster (called spelter). Not found native. Soluble in acids and alkalies. Insoluble in water. Malleable at 100-150 oC. Strongly electropositive. Zinc foil will ignite in presence of moisture. Low toxicity.
Hazards: Flammable, dangerous fire and explosion risk (dust).
