UBC — used beverage cans — is the most standardised aluminium scrap grade in world trade and the feedstock for closed-loop can-sheet production. Cans are made from two alloys (3004 body, 5182 lid), which makes a clean UBC bale unusually predictable for a secondary smelter: it remelts back into can stock with minimal alloy correction. We supply baled UBC to the ISRI Taldon specification, sourced from municipal and deposit-return collection streams.

What determines the price
UBC is priced as a percentage of the LME aluminium cash price, and the percentage is set by bale density, moisture, free-liquid content, contamination with steel or non-beverage aluminium, and — critically — metal recovery after de-coating, since the lacquer and print burn off.
