Butyl rubber inner tube scrap
Butyl rubber (IIR) is used for inner tubes precisely because it is almost impermeable to air, and that same property makes scrap butyl a valuable and specific reclaim feedstock — quite distinct from general tyre rubber. Used and off-cut butyl tubes are processed into butyl reclaim rubber, which goes back into new tube manufacture, tyre inner liners and curing bladders.
