Best Grade Copper Wire Scrap | Copper scrap price | Copper millberry scrap

Millberry is the ISRI grade name for No.1 bare bright copper wire scrap, and it is the highest-value copper scrap grade in international trade. It is what smelters and wire-rod mills want because it goes into the furnace essentially as refined copper: clean, untinned, uncoated, unalloyed wire, free of the burnt and brittle material that destroys yield. We supply Millberry against written specification to smelters, refiners and rod mills worldwide.

Specification (ISRI Millberry)

• Copper content: 99.9% minimum

• Condition: clean, untinned, uncoated, unalloyed copper wire

• Gauge: not smaller than 16 gauge (approx. 1.29 mm)

• Free of: burnt brittle wire, tinned or plated wire, insulation and PVC residue, iron, hair wire, brass and bronze, soldered material, oil and grease

• Form: loose wire or baled

• HS code: 7404.00 (copper waste and scrap)

What determines the price

Millberry is priced as a discount to the LME copper cash price, typically a tight one because the grade is so close to refined metal — trade listings commonly reference a small discount to spot, though the actual number moves daily and by region. Your specific price is set by assayed copper content, gauge and freedom from tinned or burnt wire, lot size, and freight to your discharge port. We do not publish a number because it would be wrong by the time you read it — send us the tonnage and discharge port for today's quote per metric ton.

Typical applications

Direct charge to secondary copper smelting; continuous-cast copper rod production; copper wire and cable manufacture; electrical, light engineering and machinery industries.

Supply terms

Available by 20ft container load — copper is dense and 20ft is the loading unit for weight reasons. Loose-loaded, baled or in bulk bags as agreed. Because copper is high-value per container, we strongly recommend third-party pre-shipment inspection with XRF or wet-chemical assay at load port; it can be arranged on request at buyer's account and is the fastest way to build a first contract with a new counterparty.

Copper Wire Scrap for sale

Copper wire scrap is a valuable and sought-after material in the scrap metal industry. It is defined as uncoated, unalloyed, bare wire or cable, no more than 16 gauge in thickness, and is quickly classified as #1 copper. This type of copper is usually found in bus bars, wires, and commutator segments, with wire measuring at least 1/16th of an inch in thickness. Copper wire scrap is known for its high conductivity, ductility, and corrosion resistance, making it a valuable resource for a variety of industries.

Copper Scrap for sale

There are various sources of copper wire scrap, including industrial and commercial businesses, construction sites, and residential households. Many of these sources discard copper wire as waste, not realizing its potential value. This is why recycling copper millberry scrap is crucial, as it not only helps to prevent environmental pollution but also conserves natural resources and reduces the need for mining new copper. By recycling copper wire scrap, individuals and businesses can earn a profit while also contributing to a more sustainable future.

Copper wire scrap price

Recycling copper wire scrap is important for economic as well as environmental reasons. The cost of producing copper from raw material is significantly higher than recycling copper wire scrap. In addition, recycling copper millberry scrap reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and the energy needed to mine and process new copper. This is why there is a growing demand for copper wire scrap in the global market. With the rise of e-waste and the increasing need for sustainable practices, recycling copper wire scrap has become an essential part of the circular economy. By selling copper wire scrap to scrap metal experts or recycling it themselves, individuals and businesses can make a profit while also contributing to a more sustainable future.

Copper scrap price

The price of copper wire scrap is influenced by a variety of factors, including global economic conditions, supply and demand dynamics, and the ability of suppliers to extract and transport it. The demand for goods and services that require copper also plays a significant role in determining its price. As a result, the price of copper millberry scrap can fluctuate significantly over time, making it important for buyers and sellers to stay informed about market conditions. For instance, copper scrap prices are expected to rise due to dwindling supply and increasing demand. Some of the common types of copper wire scrap include #1 bare bright copper wire, #1 copper tubing, and #2 copper tubing, among others.
