ONP — old newspaper — is the recovered fibre grade behind newsprint, tissue and moulded packaging. It is a short-fibre, mechanical-pulp grade, which means it is prized for bulk and de-inking behaviour rather than strength, and it is contracted on sorting quality and moisture rather than on brightness.
Grades supplied
• ONP: sorted old newspapers as collected, free of other paper grades
• Over-issue news (OINP): unsold, unread newsprint returned from distribution — cleaner, unhandled, and sold at a premium because it de-inks more predictably

What determines the price
ONP tracks newsprint and recycled-pulp demand at destination, which has been structurally declining as print circulation falls — that makes regional mill demand unusually decisive for this grade. Typical applications
Recycled newsprint; tissue and hygiene paper; moulded fibre packaging such as egg trays and fruit trays; cellulose insulation; animal bedding.
Supply terms
Baled, banded and loaded to 40ft high-cube container; typical loaded weight is in the region of 20–23 MT depending on bale density and moisture. Third-party pre-shipment and bale-opening inspection at load port available on request at buyer's account. Quoted per metric ton, FOB or CIF.
